چکیده

A highly selective catalytic, one-step synthesis converts oleic acid into 9( I O)-carboxystearic acid in high yields (85-99%). Hydrocarboxylation with water and carbon monoxide under pressure (3000-4000 psi) is catalyzed with a mixture of palladium chloride and triphenylphosphine at 120-150 C with or without acetone or acetic acid solvents. Palladium supported on carbon is also an effective hydrocarboxylation catalyst in the presence of triphenylphosphine and HCL Methyl 9( I O)-earbomethoxystearate was prepared by catalytic carbomethoxylation of methyl oleate with methanol and carbon monoxide but in lower yields. The carboxystearic acids and esters consisted of the 9 and 10 isomers (87-94%) in approximately equal proportions. This catalytic carboxylation procedure is a more efficient route to carboxystearic acid and ester than the two-step hydroformylation-oxidation process reported previously. Carboxylated acids, methyl esters and triglycerides of potential industrial importance have been prepared.

Silver(I)-catalyzed carboxylation of arylboronic esters with CO2.

A variety of arylboronic esters were efficiently carboxylated with CO(2) using a simple AgOAc/PPh(3) catalyst, affording the corresponding carboxylic acids in good yield. This simple and efficient silver(i) catalytic system showed wide functional group compatibility.

Effects of fats and fatty acids on blood lipids in humans: an overview.

Differences in dietary fatty acid structure induce marked differences in lipid and lipoprotein concentrations in plasma from fasting subjects. Under metabolic-ward conditions, replacement of carbohydrates by lauric, myristic, and palmitic acids raise both low-density-lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density-lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol whereas stearic acid has little effect. Oleic and linoleic acids...

Origin of Catalytic Activity Differences between Phosphine and Phosphine Oxide-Based Structures in the Water-Crosslinkable Polyalkoxysilane Composition

Organocatalysts have attracted enormous interest in the water-crosslinking reaction in silane-grafted polyolefins (SGPOs) system owing to their simplicity, low toxicity and environmentally benign nature compared to organotin catalysts, which are most used in SGPOs system. We focus on organophosphorus compounds including four structure types as organocatalysts; phosphoric acids, phosphoric ester...

Non-catalytic biodiesel fuel production with supercritical methanol technologies

Study presents that supercritical methanol has the ability to convert oils/fats consisting of triglycerides and free fatty acids (FFAs) into fatty acid methyl esters through transesterification and methyl esterification, respectively, without any catalyst. This one-step method (Saka process) is simpler process realizing shorter reaction time and higher yield of methyl esters than those of the c...

Copper-Catalyzed Oxidative Dehydrogenative Carboxylation of Unactivated Alkanes to Allylic Esters via Alkenes

We report copper-catalyzed oxidative dehydrogenative carboxylation (ODC) of unactivated alkanes with various substituted benzoic acids to produce the corresponding allylic esters. Spectroscopic studies (EPR, UV-vis) revealed that the resting state of the catalyst is [(BPI)Cu(O2CPh)] (1-O2CPh), formed from [(BPI)Cu(PPh3)2], oxidant, and benzoic acid. Catalytic and stoichiometric reactions of 1-O...
